Tours

From flowers and fragrance to fruits and textures, the Arnold Arboretum is a dynamic landscape throughout the year! Come for a tour and experience the Arboretum in a new light.

For individuals, choose from a wide schedule of free special theme tours or general interest tours.

For groups, request information to schedule a private experience, either on foot or by bus.

Arboretum Guided Tour

Arboretum Guided Tour

Experience the Arboretum in a new way--take a free guided tour with a knowledgeable volunteer docent.

Location: Hunnewell Building
Tours last around 60-90 minutes, and are geared toward adults. There is no need to register.

Tour Schedule
The general tour season runs from April 13 through November 3, 2013.

Starting April 13, we offer tours every Saturday and Sunday at 1:00pm.

These tours are intended for individuals. For a tour tailored to your group, please request a private group tour.

Private Group Tour

Our Visitor Education staff will work with you to provide a memorable experience, whether you are a group of avid gardeners seeking to gain horticultural knowledge or simply want to experience an historic landscape of remarkable beauty. Walking or Bus tours are available.

Note: Prices and full tour information are displayed when you select 'Request.' Complete and submit the request form, and you will be contacted as soon as possible to confirm a date for your visit. Please allow at least three weeks advance scheduling for your Group Tour's requested date.

From Seed to Tree

Greenhouse Staff
Choose from the first Tuesday of the month, April through September, from 1:00-2:00pm
Location: Dana Greenhouse

Did you know that almost all of the new plants in the Arboretum begin their lives in the Dana Greenhouses? Get a behind-the-scenes look of the greenhouse growing process, from seed to sprout to seedling to tree. Meet at the Bonsai Collection. There is a 15 person maximum.

Discover a world of wonder as you experience the fragrant and tactile aspects of woody plants at the Arnold Arboretum. Tour a world beyond the visual, focusing on your sense of smell and touch. This tour is suitable for blind or low vision visitors. Participants are welcome to bring sighted companions. This tour is free; however, attendance is limited, and pre-registration is required.
